Are there any hotels with swimming pools in Granada?

by Apr 19, 2016Accommodation, Blog, Granada City

Granada is a fantastic city all year round but, if you are planning a trip for the summer months, come prepared for the heat!

The best way to cool down after a day’s sightseeing is, of course, to take a dip in the pool. From hidden gems in the back streets of the Albayzín to luxurious poolside lounging in the heart of the city, there are plenty of hotels in Granada offering you just that. Here are 6 options.

1. Hotel Alixares

Situated opposite the main entrance to the Alhambra, Hotel Alixares is in a great location and offers fabulous panoramic views of the city and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

It boasts a seasonal pool on a spacious sun terrace which is a very welcome bonus for anyone visiting the Alhambra or sightseeing in the city on hot summer days. It’s a great pick for families with children.

The Alixares has two restaurants and a terrace area with spectacular views. There is also a bar and café, and a summer terrace with barbecue. This family-friendly hotel offers comfortable, functional rooms, including family rooms, with air-conditioning, flat-screen satellite TV and there is free WiFi throughout. There is also a babysitting service.

The city centre is a pleasant 15-minute walk downhill or you can take a taxi or use the regular bus services connecting the hotel to Granada city centre.  Hotel Alixares is easily accessible by car from the A-44 motorway, and private on-site parking is available (reservation is not possible) and costs €15.50 per day.

2. Barceló Carmen Granada

If you are looking for something in the heart of the city, check out Barceló Carmen Granada.

Situated on one of Granada’s most famous boulevards, Acera del Darro, this hotel is well placed for great shopping and within easy walking distance to Granada Cathedral and the Alhambra.

A popular choice for couples, this hotel features a seasonal rooftop swimming pool with fantastic views of the Alhambra Palace. The hotel also offers a highly rated restaurant with an open-air bar.

The spacious, air-conditioned rooms feature satellite TV and a private bathroom. All rooms have a minibar and telephone. Free Wi-Fi throughout.

Public parking is possible on site (reservation is not needed) and costs €19 per day.

3. Sercotel Gran Luna de Granada

Also in the heart of the city, with all the facilities you could want, is the modern Sercotel Gran Luna de Granada. Situated near the train station, it is 10 minutes on foot to the historic centre and only 20 minutes by car or cab from Granada airport.

Easy access plus onsite parking and an outdoor pool, make this a great option for families arriving by car. Being so close to the motorway also makes trips out of the city, to the beach or mountains, easy to manage. Family rooms are an option and pets are welcome too! They also offer babysitting and childminding services.

The Sercotel offers stylish and spacious, air-conditioned rooms, each with minibar and satellite TV. All bathrooms come with a bath and shower and Suites have a comfortable seating area handy sofa bed. There is free Wifi throughout.

Sercotel Gran Hotel Luna de Granada’s spa includes sauna, hot tub, turkish bath, and massage services, available for an extra cost. Other facilities include an indoor swimming pool, paddle tennis court and a free gym.

Onsite parking available (reservation not needed) at a cost of €15.60 a day.

4. Abades Nevada Palace

Abades Nevada Palace is a modern hotel and spa on a grand scale, offering 258 rooms, and is recommended here because it features two fabulous pools, indoor and out, for cooling down in the summer.

It is worth noting that it is located on the outskirts of the city, a 10-minute cab ride from the historic city centre and 30 minutes from the ski resort, and some may find the proximity to the A-395 Sierra Nevada motorway somewhat disturbing. If you do choose this hotel you might want to request a room that does not face in this direction, although to do so may deprive you of the spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada.

The upside of the location, of course, is that the hotel is easy to access if you are arriving by car and there is onsite parking for €10 a day. It is also very convenient if you are going to a concert or sporting event at the nearby Palacio de Deportes.

As you would expect from an ultra-modern 4 star hotel, all rooms are air-conditioned, with satellite TV and a minibar, safe, hairdryer and bathroom amenities. There is free Wifi throughout.

The Abades Nevada Palace Spa includes a gym, sauna, Turkish bath and hammam, and you can enjoy a relaxing massage (it is advisable to book in advance). There is also a bar and restaurant offering à la carte and a Menu del Día.

5. Granada Five Senses Rooms and Suites

Situated on Gran Via, right in the heart of the city centre, stylish Granada Five Senses Rooms and Suites would be the perfect choice for a romantic city break or a girl’s weekend.

Part of the Macià Hotels Group, it offers a rooftop pool with views of the historic city centre and the Cathedral, only 200m away. The Alhambra Palace is 25 minutes on foot or 10 minutes by bus and hotel staff can help you book your tickets.

The decor is fresh and modern with a local twist and all air-conditioned rooms and suites include WiFi, safe, and work area with a desk. Each private bathroom includes free toiletries and a hairdryer. All suites include a free minibar and coffee capsules, and some come with a hot tub. There is a free internet corner and TV lounge at Granada Five Senses. The property also offers a spa with beauticians and hairdressers.

You won’t beat this hotel on location and you’ll find a wide range of tapas bars, restaurants and nightspots in the nearby Bib Rambla Square and Calle Elvira, as well as plenty of shopping opportunities.

Direct buses to Granada Airport also stop on Gran Via and the hotel offers parking, at €19 a day (reservation required), making it an easily accessed property, however you choose to travel.
